The Story
Recent weather has run the gamut from hot and sunny to bitter cold and snow. Nature’s transition from winter to spring is never quick and easy. There’s always overlap between both seasons that leaves you yearning for a clean break.
A relative of mine recently entered hospice care. It’s a similar path that other family members have walked in the past. It’s even the same hospice facility. As I was visiting with family members that I hadn’t seen in nearly a decade, I was struck by how our circumstances had changed. But they hadn’t. Their mannerisms were still the same. The conversations even seemed the same. The general theme of the conversation was an inability to believe how time had passed by. I was left feeling disappointed that our loved one was entering the final phase of life. But I was heartened by the family he was leaving behind.
The Lesson
Change is relentless. And it’s everywhere you look. Whether it’s changes in the weather. Or changes in life.
